Developing Capacity from Rio to Reality: Who's Taking the Lead?

ICTs for Learning and Competence Building

Many ICT tools lie at our disposal to enhance learning: from e-learning platforms and mobile phones to online quizzes and videos. What have we learned so far? And how does this work in practice, especially for water?

This session will use presentations and audience participation to share examples of best practices. IHE Delft will reflect upon its own experiences of using eLearning during the course of the last 8 years, while IICD will draw upon its 15 years of working in Africa and Latin America to show how ICT-driven capacity building can result in behavioural changes among people and organizations. Within this context, highlights from the AKVO Flow system which uses smart phones for field monitoring in rural areas will also be shown. The session will be a mix of presentations, discussions and interactive group work with the audience to encourage a rich exchange of knowledge in this area.
