Boosting Proficiency in Water Professionals
Competency development in water professionals to become leading practitioners of integrated water resources management (IWRM) lies at the heart of capacity development.
This session will explore what the required competencies for IWRM are and how capacity development can be systematized and boosted by certification of proficiency in IWRM as part of career development. The Network of Asian River Basin Organizations (NARBO) has set out to pilot this approach in Asia, including in Karnataka State in India. Lessons learned from introducing a competency framework in a river basin organization will also be shared. And the session will wrap-up with an in-depth discussion of the T-shaped model for developing the capacity and leadership of water professionals to meet today’s challenges.
