Exploring Water Leadership Development
The 4th Delft Symposium in 2007 ended with a call for nurturing 1,000 water leaders in Africa and Asia. To increase water security in our fast-changing world, water professionals need the ability to motivate stakeholders to create a shared vision, inspire commitment for action across organizational boundaries, and generate momentum in projects for integrated water resources management. Their technical knowledge is valuable yet no longer enough. Our complex challenges today call for water leaders who make a difference with partners beyond their own organization. This session will explore what water leadership is and how it can be developed. Participants will discuss what it akes to get a head start in becoming a water leader and to inspire others to do the same. The session will conclude with a review of standards to help attract funding for water leader development programs around the world.
